About Leaf

Photo of me, Leaf, in a blue shirt, smiling, with my arms crossed. I am a white woman with chin-length curly brown hair.

Work

After working as a software developer for 20 years, I’m now an application architect, at the intersection of people, process, and technology.

I’m not looking for a new role, but you can find my resume here.

Leaf?

Why Leaf? It’s a nickname a friend gave me more than 30 years ago. (We think it had to do with a green winter coat I was wearing that year.) I started using it online, and it stuck.

Pretty much everyone who knows me calls me Leaf. Yes, my legal name is still Jessica, and I’ll answer to that. But “Leaf” has a few advantages. For example: I’m often not the only Jessica in the room.

Art

A tiny drawing of a colorful watercolor creature, resting on a cloud of color.

I’m also an Art-o-Mat artist. You can see more of my art here and even more at bouncingleaf.com.

Book

I’m writing a book! I’m a graduate of The Book Academy, a book writing and publishing intensive offered by 4x New York Times best-selling author, Luvvie Ajayi Jones. It’s been an amazing experience.

Certificate of Completion in red and gold. The text says:
"This is to certify that Jessica Roy, a member of The Book Academy, has completed the course this 4th day of March 2025." It is followed by the signature of Luvvie Ajayi Jones, Founder and Book Coach.

Speaking

I was thrilled to speak at Enterprise Technology Leadership Summit, formerly DevOps Enterprise Summit, in Vegas 2024. You can catch that video here: Taming a Monster: Leading a Big Change as an Individual Contributor.

What an incredible conference and community!
